Takeoff, a little delayed
I haven't posted any updates here because the site hasn't gone public, but I should explain what's happened in the past two weeks.
When we last left our young friend, he was two days from a Cesarean section, because he was breech.
That same day, we got a call from our OB, suggesting that before we came into the hospital early on a Saturday morning, it might behoove us to do a quick sonogram and make sure that our son was, in fact, still breech. Since his head was clearly sticking out to the side, we had our doubts, but we dutifully scheduled an appointment for the next morning.
That night, there was a lot of thumping and hammering about inside poor Augusta. We were wondering if he was erecting scaffolding in there.
But no, he was just flipping head-down, as we discovered the next morning. The C-section was called off, and we awaited our new friend the old-fashioned way.
Fast forward two weeks. Still no baby, and we're now a week or so past the due date. Another sonogram reveals that yes, our child is big--either "out of range" or 10 lbs., 3 oz., by the (imprecise) ultrasound measurement. While one can deliver a really big baby vaginally, it's likely not much fun, and inducing such a baby is probably worse.
Which brings us to today. C-section was rescheduled for this morning, and here we are.
