Saturday round-up

Thomas and James are doing well! At Thomas's one-week checkup on Monday, he had already grown a half-inch and regained much of his birthweight (he was back up to 8 pounds 3 ounces, from 7 lb 12 oz when we left the hospital). Given his businesslike approach to feeding -- and increasingly chubby wrists and knees -- I suspect he's continued to gain weight. We'll find out more on Monday, at his next pediatrician visit.

Thomas has also been working on holding his head up, and managed to roll over the other morning. He was clearly surprised, yet pleased, by this development. We've enjoyed watching as his gentle, stubborn personality develops.

James, of course, continues to rock. He's really seemed to take quite well to Thomas -- except for flashes of jealousy when he sees Dave holding him -- and loves to pat him and blow him kisses. James has also been having a great time playing with my mom, who's been staying with us, and has been reading and talking up a storm with her. We've been so lucky to have Mimi here.
