Potty animal
James transitioned last week to the two-year-olds class at his school. He loves it and his new teachers, and so do I. I found out this morning that part of what he's enjoying is the potty.
First, some background. James is totally fascinated with the potty. In fact, it's hard to get any bathroom privacy at our house these days. This is fine when there's only family around, but I do worry a little that he'll barge in on a guest (with his signature cheery "Hiiii!") one of these days.
In the Twos' classroom, there's a special bathroom area with a happy little row of specially sized toilets and two low sinks with their own soap and paper towel dispensers. This, even more than Fiona the guinea pig, is THE big draw for James.
When I dropped him off this morning, I took him to the potty area (which also has a diaper changing section) to check his diaper. He had no interest in a diaper change, but instead made a beeline for the potty and started clambering up on it. I helped him yank off his pants and diaper and get situated, and what do you know? He performed! I should note in fairness that not everything went off in the traditional manner -- there was a bit of a fountain effect -- but who cares? He was delighted and so was I. Ms. Cheryl came in and applauded with us.
