Day Two
James is now 30 hours old, and has spent most of his life thus far sleeping, eating, or wailing because he can't quite decide whether to sleep or to eat. All of this is age-appropriate, and he seems to be enjoying it. James met his pediatrician this morning; she pronounced him strong and healthy, and seemed impressed with his ability to move his head around (he can very nearly hold it up), stretch out straight, and perform feats of vise-like sucking.
So all is well, particularly since the nice professionals in the hospital seem inclined to change his diapers until Augusta is discharged on Tuesday or Wednesday. (The fact that his diapers have needed changing a fair amount is also a good sign in the grander scheme of things.)

that is a fine looking baby.
OH MY GOD AUGUSTA MADE A HUMAN FROM PARTS AROUND THE HOUSE.
James is a lot cuter than most newborns I've seen -- I guess it helps to cook them longer :)
