Haircut

This weekend we (finally) took James in for a haircut. We'd trimmed his hair a few times ourselves, and for the past few weekends we put off going to the barber for one reason or another (one of which is that we just love James's curls). But it was definitely getting shaggy--it was in his eyes and making him hot:

So, off to Cartoon Cuts, for his first real haircut.

Cartoon Cuts is a barber shop that caters to kids. I'd been a little apprehensive about what a "cartoon cut" entailed, and even more apprehensive about the crowds we might face at such an establishment on a weekend, but it turned out to be just fine. It's basically just a normal barber shop, with toys in the waiting area, colorful wall paint, cartoons playing on TVs at each barber chair to distract the angry little customers, and staff who (presumably) work there because they like dealing with children.

James quickly suspected that something undesirable was about to happen, and proceeded to yell. However, once we arranged things so he could sit in my lap, and plugged his mouth with a pacifier, he settled down into quiet resignation:

Afterwards, we treated him to noodles. The already-mussed results (of the haircut--noodles were in progress, and remained unmussed until consumed):
