His own private Festivus

Thomas is now almost three weeks old, which is a slightly rough time to be a little guy (it was for James, too).  He's old enough to be more aware of things than he was a week or two ago, but his system is still not very grown-up.  At this stage I remember James crying for a few hours every afternoon.  Thomas hasn't tried this [yet], but he does spend substantial patches of the day engaged in feats of strength (he can nearly hold his head up, though he doesn't know what to do with it yet) and the airing of grievances.  He makes a particular noise when airing grievances, which we've been referring to as "chuffling" (it's onomatopoetic).

All he needs now is a Festivus pole!

All joking aside, Thomas is a delightful kid, and a surprisingly reasonable person for a newborn.  For one thing, he can be persuaded to stop airing grievances if you give him a foot massage.  This is rational.  He also, as I've mentioned before, has an astonishingly sweet smile, which he shows us all the time.
