Sweet big brother

James has thus far taken quite well to Thomas's arrival.  He's been a little sad over the past day or so because my mom went home -- he keeps opening the basement door on the off chance she'll come up the stairs from the laundry area -- but he's been a terrific sport about most of the recent domestic upsets.

He's also been so sweet to Thomas, although of course we constantly have to remind him about being gentle when we touch the baby (not so easy when you're 22 months old).   He'll sometimes try to offer Thomas a pacifier (by force if necessary) when Thomas is nursing, but he's at least equally likely to come up and give him a soft kiss on the cheek.

The other thing -- James was playing with his magnetic letters on the fridge yesterday when I asked him what his favorite letters were.  He showed me the M, the D, and the T.  I told him this was very sweet, and said I really liked the letter J.  He appreciated the reciprocity.
