On the move

Thomas has learned to crawl! He has the quickness and daring of an RAF pilot, and no natural fear of edges. I admire his gallantry, but it's not the greatest thing for parental peace of mind. Naturally, he's most attracted to his brother's favorite toys. More things are declared NOT TASTY by the day.

Thomas has also begun saying "Mama," "Dada," and "Dzay" ("James," I think) with some frequency. His favorite thing to do is to take a bath with James and splash him vigorously. James seems to enjoy this, too...luckily.

James is increasingly, though inconsistently, interested in the potty. When we visited Mimi and Clancy early this summer he picked out a potty for his very own. It's a lovely shade of cerise pink (with red, his favorite color) and he loves to look at the Pink Potty.

James has also become adept at recognizing different types of cars. When he sees two of the same make -- two Hondas, say, or two Subarus -- together, he's particularly excited: "Friends!! Friends, Mama!" he cries.

Here is a rare picture of Thomas seated:

And here's a picture of James asleep on a boat, from last weekend:
