Everyone was very cross...
Earlier this week I took James and Thomas to the dentist. It was Thomas's first visit, and he did very well. So did James, although it turns out that his binky use is endangering his bite, so we had to take his binkies away.
James has been saying plaintively "Mama takes the binky from James!"
Lamentations aside, he's been bearing up more patiently than one might have expected. The problem has been at naptime: he's always used the binky to put himself down for a nap, so its absence has meant no naps. Thomas has been showing solidarity by refusing to nap either.
All this would not have been so bad if one of my dearest friends had not just sent me a shipment of new books. I've gotten to page 3 of the first one four times, and not being able to read during naptime has been worse than smelling french fries without being able to eat them.
In the immortal words of the Thomas the Tank Engine narrator, everyone was very cross.
