Not many people could manage this
James got a cold on Monday, and by Tuesday afternoon he was feeling better but Thomas was sick. Thomas, unfortunately, has inherited my approach to being sick: hide in a corner and bite and scratch anyone who acts sympathetic. Luckily James knew just how to handle this. He brought out his toy baby doll and asked Thomas to help him take care of it. First they scratched the baby's back. Next, James turned the couch into a car, with pillow carseats for the baby and for Thomas. He loaded them both into the car and Thomas sat quietly while James, from the driver's seat on the armrest, narrated all the places he was driving. Some of them were veiled hints: "Now we will go to the library and play in the fountain and have ice cream when we're done!"
