New Tricks and a Visit from Uncle Ben

Last weekend, James had a visit from his Uncle Ben:

A good time was had by all. I think James enjoyed meeting his uncle--and also enjoyed conking out while being carried on a long walk (in absolutely gorgeous weather) on the Maryland side of Great Falls.

In other news, James has a lot of new tricks; he's getting better and better at making syllabic noises--indeed, he seems to have added "booz" (his grandmother's demure term for what James snacks on, short for "bosom") to his vocabulary of "aye" (hi) and "gu" (I have no idea). He also to visibly brighten at verbal offers of food (so I think he's starting to understand English).

But the big news is that a few days ago, he figured out how to roll over from his belly to his back. I haven't caught it on film yet--and he doesn't always quite manage to do it--but here he is working on some baby push-ups:

Hi.

I have to congratulate you both on producing a baby that so clearly says, "yes, yes this is what happens when you mix Ridley and Krinsky DNA". The pictures are making me miss you both.

I have to say, I looked at that first picture and said "Holy crap, Dave grew a beard!" Then I read the title.

If Miriam is any indication, "gu" may be "good". I know it is for her.
