No!

In the month since we last posted, James has picked up a number of fun new tricks. He can eat Cheerios by spearing them with the pointy end of a crayon and transferring them to his mouth using this excellent tool; march, saunter, and promenade while holding someone's hand; take a few steps by himself (as long as he's not focusing on the fact that he's not holding onto anything); recognize the word "EXIT" in many different contexts; and give very sweet hugs.

The development we've seen most of, though, may be his new ability to shake his head "no." Sometimes this is accompanied by the phrase "Nay, nay, nay," other times it's a silent negation. He picked this up when we were in Atlanta visiting my parents a couple of weeks ago, and he's really taken to it. (It's been great for us, because he can now object to something specific, rather than being upset by a situation but unable to explain what aspect of it is bothering him.)

This led to a funny moment when we were in the car on the way to work/school last week. I asked him a question, and he started shaking his head. I said, "James, are you saying no to that?" He started to shake his head again, then realized he meant "yes" and froze. He looked so confounded that I had to help him out: "James, are you saying yes?" This freed him up for more head-shaking.
