The Monday James Report

We survived (indeed, thoroughly enjoyed, though I wish we could have stayed longer) a quick trip to Los Angeles this weekend for another wedding (that of my college roommate Dan Epstein and his wonderful co-conspirator Marcy McCullaugh). Delightful bonus: the wedding was down the street from the home of Augusta's cousins Richard and Heidi, so we had a great time staying with them and introducing them to James.

James handled the transcontinental flights pretty well (for a five-month-old). The biggest problem occurred when his back got all sweaty in his car seat, making him extremely cross until I figured out that snuggling him under a blanket and encouraging him to nap was not improving the situation. Lesson of the trip: like his dad (and paternal granddad), James is usually too hot and seldom too cold.

Pictures to follow when I get a chance to download them from the camera. In the meantime, the photographs in this post are from our lazy Fourth of July at home.

He put that cloth there, not me.

Little did we know that mashed sweet potatoes would encourage such debauchery.
